What large print changes
Large print mode makes the digits bigger and bolder and the grid lines darker. It is set up for one or two puzzles per page:
- One puzzle per page: the grid fills the page width and the digits print at roughly 50 point.
- Two puzzles per page: each digit prints at roughly 30 point.
For comparison, the normal layout at six puzzles per page prints digits at roughly 17 point. Large print also uses bolder starting numbers and darker lines, so the 3×3 boxes stand out clearly even on a basic home printer.
Who large print sudoku helps
- People with low vision, cataracts or tired eyes who find newspaper grids hard to read.
- Care homes, libraries and memory groups that want ready activity sheets. Copy one share link so everyone gets the same puzzle.
- Anyone solving away from a desk, for example on a clipboard or a lap tray.
- Young solvers moving from 6×6 to 9×9 grids.
Choosing a difficulty
This page starts on easy, the most common choice for large print. You can switch to medium, hard or expert above and large print stays on. For children or for a gentle start, the 6×6 grid in large print is very easy to read.
Printing tips
- Print at 100% or “Actual size”. “Fit to page” shrinks everything slightly.
- Use the darkest print quality setting your printer has. Light grey toner makes thin lines hard to see.
- The answers print in large type on page 2, so a helper can check them easily.
